I was chatting to Sandy from Van Ansem’s yesterday and realised that not many people know what we actually DO! We spend a lot of time advocating & promoting small business, and realised you would be curious to know more about US!

Our team working this week in the Laidley head office.

So, here it is!

With the vision to save small towns for the future of our children, we found a big gap in getting small business out there in the community. With the growing crowd online (seeing 15,000 people in the Lockyer Valley active on Facebook), there was a need to create something new. Small, mum & dad business are the backbone of country communities, but they were not getting advocated for.

The new Shop My Town product enables business to bridge the gap, and use sophisticated marketing tools.

  1. A website on Shop My Town is created for each business, with a write up, map, professional photoshoot & a blog set up.
  2. A team member in the business is enrolled in our social media training program. This has seen third generation 100 year old businesses actively blogging and being awarded a Shop My Town Hero of the Month award. “Although I was hesitant at the start, since including pictures of our staff in our Facebook posts and Shop My Town blogs, we have been reaching  so many more people” says Clare,  “thank you for your continuous suggestions to help our business.”
  3. Active campaigns on Facebook cheat the current algorithm block that stops your content getting “out there”. Many small businesses are only getting 5 likes on their posts, and reaching a hundred people per week. “My boosted post reached thousands and I received 5 bookings in 3 days” said Jen, local birth photographer & Shop My Town member.
  4. The team at Shop My Town constantly create new content, and reach 40,000 people per month. Our reach keeps the memberships at a high value, as we tell the local news in the digital world.

The program has been so well received, with 55 local businesses signing up in 10 months. We are now moving into the Toowoomba region, as well as the Western Downs. Our focus will always be to empower small business to tell their own story.

While Melody is getting around to each business as quickly as she can, you might feel like giving our Laidley office a call to have your current advertising assessed. Melody is on the road every day and happily comes to your business.

Every dollar you spend should get you a return.
